MAFEX No. 71, The Unbelievable Gwenpool.

GWENPOOL

For those who don't know who Gwenpool is.
Gwendolyn Poole is a girl lived in a universe like our world, a place where all super-heroes and super-villains were fictional characters that manifested through comic books, movies, and other media. Through unrevealed means, Gwen and her brother Teddy ended up in the Prime Marvel Universe.

Gwenpool's first involved stealing a virus from the Black Cat and selling it to Hydra for quick cash, she thought that Avengers will deal with any sort of consequence. When Gwenpool attempted to kill Howard the Duck, who had been coerced by the Black Cat into finding the thief, he made Gwen see the error in her nonchalant attitude, which originated from Gwen undervaluing the lives of the inhabitants of the Marvel Universe, whom she believed were nothing more than fictional characters. Gwen rectified her misdeed by infiltrating into a Hydra facility and getting rid of the virus with Howard's help.

In order to find a stable source of income, Gwen decided to become a mercenary, getting contract jobs from the tailor Ronnie. While on the job of taking down a Teuthidan squadron stationed on Earth, Gwenpool murdered another mercenary that had completed said mission and took credit for his work. The employer of the hitman Gwen murdered turned out to be M.O.D.O.K., who tracked down Gwenpool to have her take the place of his deceased hitman in his Mercenary Organization Dedicated Only to Killing. In order to coerce her into joining his namesake organization, M.O.D.O.K. zap Cecil into dust, a hacker Gwen befriended who had become her mission control. Gwenpool's teammates in M.O.D.O.K.'s elite were Batroc the Leaper, Mega Tony, and Terrible Eye.

Wait, is that Deadpool?

The outlook of the box. Very nice comic style box art.

It is actually a 'sleeve' cover of the box. Inside the 'sleeve' also printed with Gwenpool comics page, really cool.

Inside the cover, windowed style box.

360 GIF of a pant-less pink arctic hydra ninja...

The figure height is over 5.5 inch.

Close up on the head with laughing expression. (the box come with three sets of head)

The back of the head. Her head is actually look like a deformed sper...

Another head with different expression, this one is the scared expression, the back of the head is same with the previous one.

The third head is the one without the mask with smiling expression.

Back. This head is paired with a hood piece that put on the neck.

The paint job is very nice, but the eyes angle is like very weird, kind of like staring at nothing, a bit lifeless.

The pink torso of Gwenpool. Details are not bad, just the belt buckle is not detail enough to see the G word. The pink paint on the left shoulder is a little out of the place.

Not much details on the back, again, the paint on the left shoulder is off, the paint job is just acceptable.

The pouch on the waist is fixed on the lower abdomen.

Not much molded details on the legs either, but the sculpting look soft and smooth.

The pink-ish lower leg armor look like soft socks to me.

The sole of the boots.

The 7 different pairs of hands for this figure. The second row from the right is the one for holding smartphone, and bottom row is the one for holding the katana. Hands can be easily remove to exchange different parts, the peg to hold the parts don't have any groove to lock the hand, it is just a simple straight peg.

Head can turn 360, and the backward forward movement is not bad. (as shown as below image)

Shoulder hinge joint can lift up more than 130 degree angle, but the inner shoulder joint can't lift up more than in the picture shown, elbow joint can fold more than 120 degree angle, wrist joint also works very well, it is similar like the Figma figures.

The waist joint is in two sections ball joint, one under the rib section, the other is on the abdomen section. It can bend backward to this angle, the figure backbone is very soft, haha.

The forward movement of the waist joint is not bad too. One thing have say is, the upper ball joint of the waist is a little loose, the upper body can be easily move if accidentally bump into the figure.

Waist turning movement is not that good, the lower section waist can only turn roughly 20 degree angle, the upper section can turn more than 30 degree angle.

Thigh can only lift up to around 80 degree angle, it can swing outward 90 degree, knee joint can fold more than 110 degree angle, ankle articulation work well with toe hinge.

The katana harness can simply put on to the figure without removing anything, I normally swing the whole arms backward, fold the elbow inward, and just put on the harness like that.

The straps is not really fitting well on the chest, but it still works, sometimes when pose the figure, you have push down the straps, because it always move upward.

The katanas is actually just a hilt pegged on the sheath, not full blade katana.

This is the full length katanas for the figures.

The katana is kind of the smaller version of Deadpool katana, with different color scheme.

The penguin backpack, it is very cute and cuddly like, looks like it is very comfortable to hug, but on second thought, the backpack is always fill with guns and grenades.

The back of the backpack.

This backpack looks really cute on Gwenpool.

The straps is a little bit different than the katana one.

Another backpack she always carry, a cute shark backpack, this backpack makes more appearance than the penguin version in the comic.

Back of the backpack. This shark backpack is more suitable for Gwenpool personality. In later Venomverse, symbiote Gwenpool appears to be a shark venom in the comics.

This is actually look like that kind of fish that always stick on bigger fish back.

The straps is same with the penguin version.

Gwen's phone, a blue color iPhone?

Not much details on the back of the phone, and the top of the phone is dent too.

This figure holds the phone by using the special hand piece.

Mafex display stand come with this figure, no special wording or anything. (wee--- I am flying---)

Gwenpool compares to Marvel Legends Deadpool.

She keeps selfieing...

And still selfieing...

Mafex figure sculpting is actually very soft and smooth on outlook compare with other companies, as it compare to Marvel Legends figures, it is more comic-like than Marvel Legends one (Marvel Legends Gwenpool is the comic first issue version, it look a lot older than this version). Mafex version is also the Gurihiru version of the Gwenpool. (Gurihiru is one of the comic artists who draw this comic series)

Gwenpool compares with other girl action figures.

In Howard The Duck vol 6 #1, Gwenpool drove a bike up to the roof of a building and hijack a package from Black Cat when she is in a secret trading deal.

She buys weapons with her mercenaries earnings and kill her targets brutally, lost all the weapons in short time, and have to take another job to earn more cash, this continues... (sigh)

GWENPOOL AND BATROC. (sensei and the disciple)

Gwenpool VS Spiderman. (I really hope they won't fight to each other again in the future issues, I really like this two character working together)

She is so careless about the identity of the heroes.

Gwenpool is menacing on the streets again, Miles have stop her!

When you are in the comic world, you always caught up with 'celebs' in the world...

I think she is fond to chopping up Deadpool.

The 4th wall expert! Stealing her own taco! Lol.

Gwenpool thought her comic series will be end soon, she say good bye to Batroc, he was like a father figure to her. (I am emotional when watching this chapter)

Meet up with spider gangs and having a good time on the roof top!

But wait, a great character will not be ended like that, her legends will continue!

Currently waiting for new future issue of Gwenpool comics... (hope so)

Later the night after the photoshooting...

Thanks for watching!
